The New Moon Coffeehouse![]() The New Moon Coffeehouse, founded by members of the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill in 1988, offers monthly concerts of contemporary acoustic music. Often referred to as "folk music," the concerts cover many genres and cross-genres, such as folk rock, ethnic music, country folk, traditional music and blues. The church leaders support the coffeehouse because the concerts are one of the few kinds of entertainment which are family-friendly, welcoming to single persons, and smoke and alcohol-free. The Board makes the building available for the shows and charges only a minimal fee for the rental of the building. Although most volunteers are connected in some way to the church, it is not necessary to be a member of the church in order to donate services, such as set up, baking, publicity, and kitchen helper. If interested in volunteering, call the New Moon information number, 978-373-9259, or visit the web site at www.newmooncoffeehouse.org. Now in its Nineteenth season, the list of performers who have entertained New Moon audiences reads like a "Who's Who List" of national and regional singer-songwriters and acoustic musicians. Patty Larkin, Dar Williams, John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Greg Brown, Ellis Paul, David Wilcox, Geoff Bartley, Richard Shindell are but a few. We strive to bring you the best performers in a relaxing, friendly environment, where you can enjoy a great show, good coffee, awesome desserts, and light food. |
